What is TeURaS?

TeURaS is a club for horse riding enthusiasts at Tampere University of Technology (TUT). The club was established in 1985, so TeURaS is one of the oldest clubs at TUT.

Our objective is to offer our members a chance to get to know other students with an interest in horseback riding, to participate in introductory riding lessons at stables in Tampere area and to take part in riding camps and trail rides. We arrange events according to our members' wishes. We do not have weekly training sessions as a club. Some of us ride horses every week while the others just a couple of times every year. Our main purpose is to have fun in a healthy way and enjoy horse riding together.

Who can join?

If you study at TUT, you are welcome to join. Our members should also have paid the Sports Fee or the membership fee of TUrVoKe ry. Contact us for more information. You don't have to have any previous riding experience to join us, but many of our riding activities require some kind of previous experience for safety reasons. The annual club fee is 4 euros, but there are also activities that are free of charge. Feel free to contact us for more information at teuras-hallitus[at]listmail.tut.fi. What else should I know about TeURaS before joining?

Unfortunately, we don't have a stable of our own at TUT. (Just how cool would that be?) The horse riding activities we arrange are not free of charge, not even for our members. The price of one horse riding lesson is about 20-35 euros in this area. We also have other activities than riding lessons, so don't let the prices hold you back if you are interested - just contact us. Small riding stables and private horse owners offer cheaper horse riding opportunities.

Horse riding is a great hobby for both men and women, and Finnish riding stables offer lots of exciting opportunities to experience!
