There are plants that respond well to growing in the humid conditions of a sealed or semi-sealed (small opening for ventilation) glass-container, such as bottles, jars, goldfishbowls etc. These plants have one thing in common: they like high levels of humidity.
The best success I've had with Soleirolia soleirolii has been in a container. Also Adiantum takes to it, and Ficus pumila. These are the plants that I have tried and had success with. Very often I put small seedlings in containers or small "window-sill-greenhouses" because they seem to have a better chance of surviving that way in my care. I tend to forget about watering, and a plant in a container needs to be watered very rarely if at all (closed container in equilibrium).
